Unforgettable 2-Day, 1-Night Chisapani Hike with High School Students from the UK
Day 1: The Adventure Begins
8:00 AM: Departure from Thamel
Excitement filled the air as 15 high school students and their teachers from the United Kingdom gathered in the lobby of a cozy hotel in Thamel. Organized by Lhasso Adventure, the journey began promptly at 8:00 a.m. The students, a mix of seasoned hikers and eager beginners, were ready to experience the beauty of Nepal’s landscapes.
Morning: Trekking to Mulkharka
The trek commenced with a short drive to Sundarijal, the starting point of our hike. The students were buzzing with energy as we began the ascent through lush forests and picturesque trails. The path was a perfect blend of challenging and rewarding, with the group taking in the sights and sounds of the surrounding nature.
12:30 PM: Lunch at Mulkharka
By noon, the group had reached Mulkharka, a quaint village offering stunning views and warm hospitality. We settled into a local hotel for lunch, where students enjoyed a delicious spread of traditional Nepali dishes. The break provided a much-needed respite and a chance to interact with the friendly locals, enriching the cultural experience.
Afternoon: Continuing to Chisapani
After a hearty meal, we resumed our trek towards Chisapani. The trail led us through dense forests and occasional clearings that offered breathtaking vistas of the Kathmandu Valley. The students showed great enthusiasm and camaraderie, helping each other along the way and capturing memories with their cameras.
5:00 PM: Arrival at Chisapani
We reached Chisapani in the late afternoon, a serene village known for its panoramic views of the Himalayas. Although the weather was cloudy, the sense of accomplishment was palpable among the group. The students quickly settled into their rooms at the guesthouse, eager to rest and recharge.
7:30 PM: Dinner and Group Meeting
Dinner was served at 7:30 p.m., featuring a variety of local and international dishes. The students gathered around the dining area, sharing stories and reflecting on the day’s adventure. Following dinner, we held a small group meeting to discuss plans for the next day. Despite the cloudy weather, spirits remained high, and everyone was hopeful for clearer skies.
Day 2: Exploring and Returning
Morning: Chisapani Exploration
The day began early with a hearty breakfast. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate, and we were unable to view the majestic mountain ranges that Chisapani is renowned for. Nonetheless, the students embraced the situation, exploring the village and engaging with the local community.
12:30 PM: Lunch at Mulkharka
By late morning, we started our descent back towards Mulkharka. The trek downhill was more relaxed, with students enjoying the easier pace and the chance to spot wildlife. We arrived at Mulkharka just in time for lunch at the same local hotel. The familiarity of the place and the warm reception made it a delightful stop.
Afternoon: Return to Thamel
Post-lunch, the final leg of our journey back to Sundarijal began. The students, now seasoned trekkers, navigated the trail with ease. The descent offered different perspectives of the terrain we had climbed the previous day, adding a new dimension to the experience.
Evening: Arrival in Thamel
We arrived back in Thamel by late afternoon, tired but exhilarated. The students were greeted with refreshments at the hotel, where they shared their experiences and cherished the moments they had created over the past two days. The hike, despite the weather challenges, was a resounding success, providing a blend of physical challenge, cultural immersion, and team bonding.
