Volunteering Project in Sukraraj Balabhadra School

July 10, 2024 Lhasso Adventure

Lhasso Adventure collaborated with Mother and Children Art Foundation to deliver a volunteering project in all of Nepal, focusing on experienced and professional work.  Volunteering in Nepal can be the perfect combination of helping those in need and enjoying the wonderful trekking landscape. On the 28th of July, the team project  Haydon School started their volunteering project in Sukraraj Balabhadra Secondary School, Pokhara. They lived for 3 days with the local community, learning and interacting with Nepali culture while helping in the school. At their arrival, the team received a warm welcome from the school principal, SMC chairperson, Parents’, Teachers’ Association members, and students. The community offered them white scarves called Khada, a bunch of flowers, and a red tika on their forehead.

During their stay, the team was also able to enjoy local activities, as the group members were quite interested in taking part in a cookery class and teaching. Thus, the team was split into three groups and took part in these classes for 2 days. Besides that, they also played games and interacted with local children.

As a farewell, the team had a wonderful closing ceremony organized by the school committee. The students performed cultural dances, sang songs, delivered an appreciation speech, and wrote a letter to the team. This wonderful experience will last in every volunteer’s memory and in the local community as well. As for now, students will enjoy a better and safer school environment.
