"Make your adventure dreams to reality of a lifetime"
The Pikey Peak trek is a remarkable journey in the lower Everest region, offering an easy, short trail for spring, autumn, and winter. This newly opened route boasts breathtaking views of the eastern Himalayas. According to Sir Edmund Hillary, Pikey Peak (4,065 m | 13,333 ft) provides one of the finest vantage points for Mt. Everest.
One appealing aspect is its accessibility. Instead of the daunting Kathmandu to Lukla flight, you can reach Dhap (2,850 m | 9,348 ft) via a 7-8 hour scenic drive from Kathmandu.
Furthermore, the trail meanders through remote villages and dense rhododendrons and pine forests, providing glimpses into the traditional lives of the Sherpa, Tamang, Rai, Limbu, Chhetri, and other communities. Along the way, you’ll encounter stupas, prayer wheels, and colorful prayer flags, enhancing the cultural experience.
Moreover, due to its lesser-known status, the Pikey Peak trail usually remains less crowded compared to popular routes like Everest Base Camp and Annapurna Base Camp. Additionally, recent road construction has made the Pikey Peak trek more accessible to adventurers.
The highlight, undoubtedly, lies in the breathtaking views. From Pikey Peak, trekkers can marvel at eight-thousanders like Everest, Lhotse, Kanchenjunga, and Makalu. Mountains like Thamserku, Nuptse, Pumori, and Kangtega further enhance the awe-inspiring panorama.
Furthermore, the landscapes along the trail captivate with lush hills, terraced fields, waterfalls, and beautiful suspension bridges. Trekkers can also visit the Thupten Choling monastery and interact with friendly locals, enriching the journey.
In summary, the Pikey Peak trek offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, cultural immersion, and accessibility. Thus, it becomes an ideal choice for a Himalayan adventure without the demands of more challenging treks.
Upon your arrival, a representative from Lhasso Adventure will greet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel. We’ll then schedule a trip meeting and introduction with your trekking guide at our office. You’ll receive further details regarding the schedule either upon arrival or via email.
Traveling by private jeep, we embark on a journey through winding roads, occasionally encountering bumps along the way. Amidst the lush greenery, we pause at scenic spots, taking moments to relax and soak in the beauty around us. Eventually, our adventure leads us to Dhap, where we conclude the first leg of our journey, ready to embrace the next chapter of our expedition.
We’ll trek along the Phokte Danda trail, passing through Sigane village, where we’ll enjoy panoramic views of Everest, Numbur, and more. Continuing on, we’ll walk past Phokte Danda until we reach Jhapre.
The trail ascends via Lhamuje Danda to Bhulbhule and Lhamuje, then diverges after Lhamuje. Following the road to Pikey Peak, you’ll pass a mani stone wall and a cheese factory before reaching Pikey Peak Base Camp.

After breakfast, you’ll begin by descending along the ridgeline. Once you leave, there are several descent options to reach Junbesi. The most probable route is a stunning shortcut that veers off the mountain shortly after Jase and steeply descends through lush old-growth forest to Taktor. This path intersects with the Everest Base Camp trek from Jiri. As you progress, you’ll notice more established tea shops and may encounter other trekkers for the first time.
Today, we’re embarking on a local tour. Our first stop is the Thupten Choling Gompa, a historic monastery dating back to the 19th century. We’ll hike up to the Gompa following the Junbesi Khola. The monastery provides fascinating insights into the cultural and religious heritage of the region. After spending some time exploring, we’ll return to Junbesi and stay overnight at a lodge.
Today, we’ll keep going down the sandy path next to the Junbesi Khola until we reach a steel suspension bridge. Once we cross the bridge, we’ll arrive at Beni Ghat. Before we get to Phaplu, we’ll keep trekking along a beautiful path. We can explore the area around as we leave the Rolwaling region behind. We’ll spend the night at a guesthouse in Phaplu.
We’ll have breakfast in Phaplu before starting our journey to Kathmandu in a private jeep. Recalling our trip to Pikey Peak, we expect the drive to take about 8 hours to reach Kathmandu. Please note that although there’s an airport in Phaplu, regular flights aren’t available. However, if you prefer, we can arrange a charter flight from Phaplu to Kathmandu.
Today is your free day in Kathmandu after the short Himalayan Trek. If you’d like, we can arrange a tour to explore the ancient cities of Kathmandu Valley. With a tour guide and private transport, you’ll discover the culture, art, and local lifestyle. You’ll visit UNESCO World Heritage sites like Boudhanath, Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, and Pashupatinath Temple. You can choose any four places from this list to visit with the tour guide.
In addition to making trekking more enjoyable, having the appropriate gear guarantees your safety and readiness for a range of situations. Regardless of skill level, every hiker has to invest in high-quality equipment and understand how to utilize it properly. A delightful journey can differ from a difficult ordeal depending on the level of planning and equipment used. Please make your selections of the necessary equipment from the list below.
