Upon arriving at Kathmandu International Airport, you will be greeted by our guide and staff, who will transfer you to your hotel in the heart of Kathmandu. After checking into your rooms and refreshing from your flight, our expert guides will provide information about the hotels, trekking options, local lodges, and overland drives, including important dos and don’ts.

After breakfast, you will embark on a half-day sightseeing tour of the Kathmandu Valley, exploring several historical sites recognized as World Heritage Sites. The day’s highlights include visits to the Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath (also known as the Monkey Temple), the Boudhanath Stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. These iconic landmarks provide valuable insights into Nepal’s rich cultural and religious heritage, showcasing exquisite architecture and deep spiritual significance.

On this day, you’ll embark on a scenic one-hour flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj. Located in the Banke region of far western Nepal, Nepalgunj serves as a prominent transportation and industrial hub. This day offers ample opportunities to immerse yourself in the vibrant tapestry of this multi-ethnic city. Experience the distinct culture and lifestyle of the Terai people, which contrasts significantly with that of the capital. You may choose to wander along Grasscutters’ Lane, sampling delightful street food, or explore further afield. Today marks the official commencement of your Rara Lake Trek. After breakfast, you will begin your journey with a trek from Jumla to Chere Chaur, located at an altitude of 3,055 meters. Since it’s the first day of the trek, it’s essential to ascend gradually and stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

On the way to Chere Chaur, you will pass through Khalanga Bazaar, a quaint marketplace bustling with local activity. As you continue, you’ll traverse charming villages and temples, gradually making your way to Chere Chaur, where you’ll stop for an overnight stay.

Embrace the serene surroundings, take in the sights, and embark on this adventure at a mindful pace, ensuring a memorable and enjoyable experience right from the outset of your Rara Lake trek.

Today, you will embark on a journey along the western trails, gradually ascending through stunning forests of rhododendron, birch, and pine until you reach Jaljala Pass, which stands at 3,580 meters. From this vantage point, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the Kanjiroba Himal. After crossing the pass, you’ll continue trekking along an untouched trail. A couple of hours later, you will arrive at Jaljala Chaur, a summer grazing pasture. After a total of 5–6 hours of walking, you will join the main Rara Circuit trail and reach Chala Chaur, located at an elevation of 2,980 meters, where you’ll stay overnight.

Today, you’ll journey towards Sinja Valley, a remote village nestled on the banks of the Hima River. The trail meanders through several small settlements, with the Jaljala River accompanying you along the way. After 7-8 hours of trekking, you will arrive at Sinja Valley, located at an elevation of 2,490 meters, where you’ll spend the night. This picturesque valley, once the capital of the Malla Dynasty from the 12th to 14th centuries, is home to numerous ancient temples and historic sites, waiting to be explored by trekkers.

After an early morning breakfast, you’ll depart from Sinja and head towards Ghorosingha. Following the upstream trail eastward, you’ll arrive at Laha. Continuing from Laha, the trek will take you to the small settlement of Gani. From there, you’ll follow a steep trail leading to Ghorosingha, located at an elevation of 3,050 meters, where you will spend the night.

After breakfast, you’ll begin your trek towards Rara Lake (3,010 meters), starting with a steep ascent along the side of Chucharmare Danda. After soaking in the natural beauty, you’ll continue along a forested trail until you reach Majhghat. From there, you’ll follow the Khatyar River to Chhapri village, the headquarters of Rara National Park. Finally, after a 6–8-hour trek, you’ll arrive at your dream destination, Rara Lake. Upon arrival, take a moment to marvel at the tranquil lake and the lush vegetation of Rara National Park.

Today, you’ll spend the entire day exploring Rara Lake and its surroundings. After breakfast, you’ll set out to discover one of Nepal’s largest lakes, encircled by dense green forests that are home to a diverse array of flora and fauna, including indigenous species of birds, fish, and animals. For those interested in a longer excursion, a trip to Murma Top offers mesmerizing aerial views of the lake and takes about 6-7 hours for the round trip. Alternatively, you can relax by the lakeside and enjoy the spectacular vistas of the lake and the Himalayas. The changing light and hues of the lake create a magical transformation, ensuring a lifetime of memorable experiences. Additionally, you can enjoy short boating trips on clear days, though swimming is not permitted to maintain the crystal-clear water. After capturing these marvelous views with your camera, you’ll return to the teahouse for an overnight stay.

Today, departing from the stunning Rara Lake, your journey leads you towards Pina. The trek spans approximately 6-8 hours and offers a pleasant experience as you make your way to Gamgadhi, the headquarters of the Mugu District. Continuing along the enchanting forest trail, you’ll eventually arrive at Jhyari Khola. After a brief uphill climb through the pine forest, you’ll reach the village of Pina, located at an altitude of 2,440 meters. You will spend the night at a teahouse in Pina village.

The trail descends downhill, leading you through the scenic Ghurchi Langna Pass, situated at an altitude of 3,480 meters, which marks the highest point of your trek. After soaking in the breathtaking scenery, you’ll continue your journey downward, eventually reaching Bulbule. From there, you’ll head southward, passing through small settlements near Chautha. After trekking for 5-6 hours, you’ll arrive at the picturesque village of Bumra (also known as Nauri Ghat), located at an altitude of 2,850 meters, where you’ll spend the night.

After indulging in the soothing waters, you’ll conquer the Danphe Lagna Pass at 3,691 meters. Eventually, after a trek of 5–6 hours, you’ll reach Jumla at an elevation of 2,540 meters, where you’ll settle in for the night.

In the evening, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the bustling tourist hub of Thamel, where you can celebrate the successful completion of your Rara Lake Trek. You may also opt for some last-minute shopping. You’ll spend the night in Kathmandu, concluding your memorable adventure.
