Jangbu Sherpa
  • Trekking and Tour Leader

Jangbu was born and raised in the Everest region of Solukhumbu, home to the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest (8,848m). For over a century, the Sherpa people, an ethnic group native to this region, were the primary trekking and mountaineering guides in Nepal, a tradition that continues today. Jangbu’s grandparents, parents, and many others in his community worked in the mountain adventure industry. After finishing high school in his village, Jangbu began trekking with his father and other seniors as a porter, sometimes carrying loads heavier than his own weight. After a few years of working as a porter, he was promoted to assistant trekking guide. Jangbu then completed various training programs, including Leadership Development, Wilderness First Aid, and Trekking Guide certification, earning his professional guide status in 2002.

Known for his energy, sincerity, expertise, and dedication, Jangbu has been leading trekking and mountaineering expeditions for over 27 years, guiding groups across Nepal, Bhutan, India, and Tibet. He joined Lhasso Adventure as a trekking and tour leader in early 2018, where he continues to guide groups through the Himalayan region of Nepal.
