Overview

Health Camp and Short Trek, Nestled in the picturesque highland village of Helambu, just 80 kilometers northeast of Kathmandu, this community project embodies resilience and compassion. Home to the Hyolmo people, known for their ancient monasteries and rich cultural heritage, Helambu suffered greatly in the devastating earthquake that ruined homes, schools, and healthcare facilities. In response, Lhasso Adventure led relief efforts, rallying both national and international support.

Through ongoing initiatives, the community project in Helambu has become a beacon of hope, providing vital support to locals. The program offers essential first-aid training every two months and conducts regular health check-ups with dedicated medical professionals. Additionally, free medication distribution, health and hygiene awareness programs, and efforts to rebuild healthcare infrastructure further underscore Lhasso Adventure’s commitment to sustainable development in the region.

Moreover, participating in this Health Camp and Short Trek project offers benefits beyond healthcare and infrastructure. Nepal’s cultural diversity, with over 120 distinct castes and communities, presents a rich tapestry of traditions waiting to be explored. Volunteers receive a warm welcome from locals, who offer traditional Khada as a symbol of goodwill and hospitality. Furthermore, they can engage in vibrant Nepalese festivals such as Dashain, Tihar, Lhosar, and Holi, witnessing the joy and camaraderie of these celebrations.

Amidst Helambu’s breathtaking landscapes and ancient monasteries, volunteers not only make a tangible difference but also forge lasting connections and memories that transcend borders. As they immerse themselves in the fabric of village life, they experience the true spirit of community firsthand. Together, they stand as agents of change, united in their vision of a brighter, more resilient future for the people of Helambu. Ultimately, this project not only supports the community but also enriches the volunteers’ lives through meaningful engagement.
