Today, you will enjoy a city tour of Kathmandu, exploring its historical and ancient heritage sites of significant value. These include Swayambhunath (the Monkey Temple) and Boudhanath Stupas, renowned for their religious importance, ancient monasteries, and unique cultural features.
Next, you will visit the Hindu holy site of Pashupatinath Temple, located on the banks of the sacred Bagmati River. This temple is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in the world. The tour will also take you to Patan Durbar Square, a complex featuring the ancient royal palace, the unique Krishna Temple, a museum, resting places, and intricate carvings on stone and wood structures.

Our trek begins today with a drive to Shivalaya. After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, you will be accompanied by our guide. We navigate through the bustling streets of Kathmandu, passing the Newar towns of Banepa and Bhaktapur. The route follows the Bhote Koshi River up to a Tamang village, then continues alongside the Tama Koshi River until we reach Jiri. Known as the “Switzerland of Nepal” for its natural beauty, Jiri is a popular starting point for Everest treks. From Jiri, we proceed to Shivalaya, our destination for the day. The village is home to a diverse mix of Gurungs, Sherpas, Brahmins, and Magars. Stay overnight in Shivalaya.
Today, we rise early to begin our hike. Our route takes us through the Shivalaya Police Checkpoint. The trail to Bhandar is moderately steep, adorned with rhododendron clusters. As we ascend, enjoying the beauty of the rhododendrons, we reach Deurali (2,387m), providing a magnificent view of Pike Peak. Deurali is primarily inhabited by Sherpas and Tamangs. Continuing our journey, we descend until we reach the settlement of Bhandar, where we will spend the night.
Today, you’ll witness mountain glaciers, Lake Dudh Kunda, and the majestic mountains up close. If you’re here in August, you can join the Janai Purnima ceremony, a notable festival in Nepal. During the rainy season, bird watchers can spot migratory aquatic birds. Spend the night at Dudh Kunda.
We trek along a steep route to Dudh Kunda Base Camp, where Dudh Kunda Lake is situated, nestled at the base of Numbur Himal. This mountain, locally known as Shorong Yul Lha, holds religious significance. Hindu devotees often visit the lake for a holy dip. From the base camp, we enjoy views of Dudh Kunda Peak, Numbur I & II, and Mera Peak. Afterward, we trek back to Saharsbeni, combining trekking with pilgrimage. We stay overnight at Saharsbeni.
We’ll start early to catch the majestic sunrise before embarking on a seven-hour hike to Phaplu. The trail winds through mixed alpine forests, offering opportunities for wildlife and bird watching. Passing through Sherpa settlements, you’ll encounter diverse flora and fauna. In Phaplu, optional cultural shows are available on request. Rest and stay overnight in Phaplu.
After breakfast, we depart early for a scenic flight back to Kathmandu, enjoying captivating views of hills, valleys, and mountains. Upon arrival, our representative will transfer you to your hotel in Thamel. Explore the vibrant streets, nearby markets, and historic sites like Ason and Basantapur Durbar Square. You can also indulge in souvenir shopping. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner with authentic Nepali cuisine.
On your last day in Nepal, after an incredible experience and adventure on the Dudh Kunda Trek with the excellent service of Lhasso Adventure, you’ll be transferred to Kathmandu International Airport for your homeward journey or to your respective destinations.
