Free Health Camp in Chitre, Helambu and Lapsephedi, Kathmandu
October 2, 2024 Lhasso Adventure
Lhasso Adventure, in collaboration with the Mother and Children Art Foundation (MCAF) and The Wild Medic Project Inc., Australia, organized a Free Health Camp in Chitre, Kiul Helambu, on the 28th and 29th of November 2015. This initiative was especially important as the April earthquake had devastated the area, destroying all houses, schools, and the Chitre Health Post.
We were truly overwhelmed by the support and enthusiasm of the local community in making this camp a success. Our goal of providing basic health care to communities with limited access proved highly effective, as more than 180 people attended the camp within the first two days. The community greatly appreciated the health clinic services, as well as the training sessions on general hygiene and first aid. On the 30th of November, the team also joined residents in clearing the rubble of the former Chitre Health Post, which had been destroyed by the earthquake. The community’s warm hospitality, heartfelt welcome, and touching farewell deeply moved us all.
Following the success of the Chitre Health Camp, the team continued its efforts on the 2nd and 3rd of December at Hillside Academy, Lapsephedi, where assessments and treatments were provided to 287 students. In addition, the senior students received a class on basic first aid, further strengthening the community’s knowledge of emergency care.
We are committed to continuing this program with even greater support in the future. Our sincere thanks go to everyone who was directly or indirectly involved in making this project a success.
