July 11, 2024 Lhasso Adventure

On August 4th, the Sackville School Volunteering in Nepal program brought a team from the UK to Budhanilkantha for a meaningful experience at Aatma Bikas School. Guided by Lhasso Adventure, the group immersed itself in Nepali culture, lived within the community, and contributed to important school activities.

Welcome Ceremony and Project Planning

At their arrival, the team received a welcome ceremony, the students offered a bunch of flowers, and the national anthem of both Nepal and the UK was played. After the anthem, the principal delivered a welcome speech. And then the group was taken around the project area. The team met the principal of the school and agreed on working on the following tasks: plastering and concreting the floors, digging the path to the toilets, and making murals.

This Sackville School Volunteering in Nepal project helped the students connect deeply with the community while contributing to important improvements at the school.

Building & Cleaning – Challengers in Action

On the first day, the team visited a nearby handicraft shop. The team purchased materials and tools. During their stay, the team interacted with locals. They participated in a cookery class and an English teaching exchange. Moreover, the team was invested in the community and decided to visit a monastery near the school with the local guides.

The impact of the Sackville School Volunteering in Nepal experience was clear, as the students actively joined cultural and educational exchange throughout their stay.
